Can summer be truly summer without Cousins Beach?

It used to be that Belly counted the days until summer, until she was back at Cousins Beach with Conrad and Jeremiah. But not this year. Not after Susannah got sick again and Conrad stopped caring. Everything that was right and good has fallen apart, leaving Belly wishing summer would never come.
But when Jeremiah calls saying Conrad has disappeared, Belly knows what she must do to make things right again. And it can only happen back at the beach house, the three of them together, the way things used to be. If this summer really and truly is the last summer, it should end the way it started--at Cousins Beach.

The book continues from where we left off in the previous book. Conrad and Belly spent Christmas together. The Christmas before Susannah died. Now, Belly is back to her old life and is actually dreading the summer that is going to come. Not only that Susannah is gone, things between her and Conrad aren't going well. I actually thought that things will go smoothly between them since the ending of The Summer I Turned Pretty. But apparently not.

I was surprised to see a chapter in Jeremiah's POV. I got a glimpse into the character of the sunny younger Fisher. He loves Belly so much. He was so patient and he makes Belly happy which I think Belly didn't get when she was with Conrad.

The only problem I have with this installment is that Belly is still kind of immature. She treats Conrad like he's God or something. Even his attitude towards her was really awful. My inner rational side is screaming at Belly, like, "GIRL! GET YOUR SHIT TOGETHER AND SMELL THE COFFEE!". But then I think most of us went through that. God knows I did.

Belly is hard to stay mad at. She is a very lovable character. She is still just growing up. I just want to hug her and tell her that everything will work out for the better.
