Book Turned Art: November 9 by Colleen Hoover

Book Turned Art is a feature where I showcase my so-called talents in Adobe Photoshop and make up posters inspired by the book. Feel free to do this tag on your blog, just don't forget to tag me!

IN THE SPOTLIGHT:

This book had this lasting impact on me. I love love love this book. I had a hard time choosing my favorites because everything was just so beautiful.

 (c) elpostcom

Ain't that right? I've heard this a thousand times though. I haven't said it to someone else though.

Oh, Benton James Kessler. His words are just so beautiful. I'm still hoping he's real though.

Then there's Fallon O'Neill. My heart went out. It stopped beating. I stopped breathing. All because of this quote.

When I saw the preview art on Colleen Hoover's page a few months before this was released, I was like, "Whoa!". In Tagalog, this is called a "hugot".

*dreamy sigh* November 9...I have no words as to how much I just love this book...I don't even know.
What do you think of this post? Would love to know your thoughts!

Book Turned Art: Illuminae by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff

I have yet to come up with a decent sort of poster for my new feature called, Book Turned Art. So, Book Turned Art is a feature where I showcase my so-called talents in Adobe Photoshop and make up posters inspired by the book.

For the first Book Turned Art post, I'm going to showcase Illuminae by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff. Yes. I'm still reeling from this book. If you don't follow me on Twitter, then you should. Go, follow me here. A day before Illuminae was out into the wild, I made some posters inspired by the book.

This quote is the biggest understatement from the book and is by far my favorite quote from the book.

This one gave me the butterflies-in-your-stomach feeling. I think, it's still here...

This quote came from AIDAN. This one is very unforgettable too.

I would like to thank PaperJunk over at Deviantart. You can find his/her work here: http://www.paperjunk.deviantart.com. The fonts I used are standard fonts.

So, there you have it. I'm no master when it comes to digital art. But I'm trying anyways.

I would like to know your thoughts on this. And probably some suggestions for a poster made by me, if you would like.

Wicked Musings: Why I'm Such An Introvert

Well, hello~ I'm presenting a new feature on the blog. Wicked Musings is where I'm going to post my non-bookish feelings and a part of myself on Internet for all the world to see.

I'm a self-confessed introvert. And it's weird that I'm about to finish my bachelor's degree in Mass Communication, a not-so introvert kind of degree program. I didn't realize I was one until I stumbled upon this Buzzfeed post about introverts and I realized why I act a certain way. Because of my introvertedness ( I know that's not a word. I made it up. Deal with it. ), people think that I'm a snob because I wouldn't glance your way or that I have this certain air about me that makes people stay away from me. They say I always have my resting bitch face, but I highly disagree.

I rarely attend parties. I used to when I was 18 but not anymore because I grew tired dressing up and going to bars and drinking till I drop. I got tired of meeting random people who I wouldn't remember or wouldn't remember me the next day. I had to study that's why I rarely go out anymore even if I really wanted to. My grades were falling so I had to bring it back up again. But even then, I realized that I have better things to do with my time rather than going out.

Ever since I stopped going out with friends, I became socially awkward. It's hard, okay. People think that talking to others is really easy but it's not. I'm always nervous. I'm nervous about not saying the right thing. I'm nervous because people judge and I don't like being judged. Who does right? I'm so awkward like that. I feel bad about that actually. I don't like my friends to think that I don't like hanging out with them. I just do. But I really prefer being by myself. (Unless, you treat me out, then I'm game!)

I partly blame my love for  reading for my introvertedness. And the TV shows I watch. I have so many books I have to read that I need more time alone to read it! (What an excuse, I know.) But bookworms like myself know that this is a real problem and we deal with this on a daily basis. *insert evil smirk*. I enjoy reading. I enjoy immersing myself into different worlds, different stories, different places and I could do that in the comfort of my comfy chair.

To set things straight, I'm not a snob. But I will be if you're a snob to me. My resting bitch face will always be there and there's nothing I can about it. God made my face like this. I love "me time". I highly value "me time". If I'm being quiet, that can mean so many things. Just know, that I will never make the first move. As I said, I'm socially awkward and this will probably live on until I die. But that doesn't mean I'm not approachable. I really am, okay. It's just that, I don't make the first move. (This is probably why I won't ever have a boyfriend or any guy talk to me. Heh.)

I hope that shed a light to who I am as a person. Until next time~!

Stacking The Shelves: The Gift That Keeps On Giving

Stacking The Shelves is a feature hosted by Tynga’s Reviews where bloggers share what books (both physical and digital) they received, won, bought, and borrowed.

I dedicate this post to my very good friend, Eric Gendrala, whom I had the pleasure meeting and calling him my best friend. I just met him when school started and we hit it off pretty well. He knew about my love for books and when I told him I love John Green, he bought me the John Green novel boxed set. Amazing right?

Looking For Alaska - John Green
Paper Towns - John Green

I have yet to read An Abundance of Katherines and Paper Towns though. I also bought these books since May:

Burn for Burn - Jenny Han
Bloodlines - Richelle Mead
Let The Sky Fall - Shannon Messenger

In a few months, the annual Manila International Book Fair will happen again. And if you're a Filipino living in the Philippines, I suggest you save up for this.

Why I Love: The 1975

Why I Love is a feature on my blog. This is where I share the things I am currently obsessing on and still obsessed with. Note that future posts are highly over the top and crazy because I am a crazy fangirl.

This band is composed of Adam Hann, Ross Macdonald, Matt Healy and George Daniel. They're from Manchester, England and has been together for 10 years. Their debut album, The 1975, has 39 tracks. Yes, 39 tracks and it shot up in the UK and US charts.

Here are my favorite songs from this band.

Girls
They're just girls, breaking hearts
Eyes bright, uptight, just girls
But she can't be what you need if she's 17
They're just girls
They're just girls

The City
If you wanna find love, then you know where the city is

Chocolate
Hey now, call it a split 'cause you know that you will
Oh, you bite your friends like chocolate
You say, we'll go where nobody knows, with guns hidden under our petticoats
No, we're never gonna quit
No, we're never gonna quit it.

Pressure
You've seen so many faces that I've never seen before
I left an unrewarding message telling you to come on
Over dramatic, automatically assume I'll stay the same.

Robbers
I'll give you one more time
We'll give you one more fight
Said no more line
Will I know you

Settle Down
And you're sure that I'd learn
I'm pushing through bodies
Avoiding me and walking 'round you
And you're cold and I burn
'Cause I stay another hour or two

Just listening to their songs gives you this very calming vibe. Some of the songs on their debut album are very electronic, and sometimes those kinds of songs can get very annoying. It's too auto tuned, but theirs isn't. It's perfect for road trips or for background music at like coffee shops and stuff. And their lyrics are very wonderful.

Check out their cover of Rather Be by Clean Bandit feat. Jess Glynne on BBC Radio 1's Live Lounge. This is, like, the coolest cover I've ever heard of.

If you're looking for the next band to cheer you up, or just looking for new music to listen, listen to The 1975. You will not regret it. I swear.

See you on the next episode/segment/whatever I'm supposed to call this lol!

LIFE OF A BLOGGER: Embarrassing Things

Life Of A Blogger is hosted by Jessi from Novel Heartbeat where we let people know more about our lives outside of blogging so they can get to know us better!

Today's post is about embarrassing things. Man, I think this is a long one and I cringe at all the embarrassing moments I have encountered over the past twenty years. *gasps*

  1. When I was in third grade, I went back to the classroom from the ladies room with the back of skirt tucked behind me...typical middle school stuff. Happy days!
  2. My brother, who has in pre-school at the time, blabbered to my crush, who was a sixth grader at the time. You imagine how that turned out.
  3. HIGH SCHOOL PROM. NOT MY FAVORITE HIGH SCHOOL MEMORY EVER. JUST. NO.
  4. Anything that has to do with me being in front of everyone. Especially in class. Ironic since I'm taking up a course that has to deal with stage presence and all that shit. Ooops!
  5. When I'm out with friends. I am too loud for my own good that I get glares from people.
  6. Fangirling in public. See, people think I'm crazy. When...well, I am crazy.
What makes you embarrassed? Comment below!

LIFE OF A BLOGGER: Siblings

Life Of A Blogger is hosted by Jessi from Novel Heartbeat where we let people know more about our lives outside of blogging so they can get to know us better!

I'm my younger brother's older sister and my eldest sister's younger sister. Technically, I am a middle child but I grew up with my younger brother than with my older sister because she grew up in the province and not with the two of us. The reason? I won't disclose as it is too personal.

Sharday Marie aka Day
She's is the most fabulous and most intelligent person ever. I kind of feel sad that she didn't grow up with me and my brother in the city. She's now working in Dubai and living the life. She has the life that I want to have right now. She's very wise! Even if she's miles away, everything she shared with me, may it be about love or just life in general, I bring it with me wherever I go. She loves books like I do and watch the roughly the same shows I watch here in the Philippines. She and I share the same ideals. Well, roughly the same. I'm like the ugly duckling next to her and she's the beautiful swan. :)

Marvin Louie aka Marvin
My younger brother is very...generous and thoughtful. I often think his future girlfriends will be so loved because he thinks of others first before him and I am jealous of it. He loves football..a lot! He follows all of the football leagues out there and he always tells me about it even if he knows that I don't know a thing. He's very techy too. Hence, the course he's taking up in college is related to technology. Before he came, I was the baby. I was everyone's favorite till he came along and then I wasn't favorite anymore. Okay that's just my petty self talking. He's utterly the best younger brother ever. Even if at times he can be a pain in the butt.

I just love my siblings to the moon and back. I will never replace them with anyone else! :) Spread the love to your siblings. They'll always be there no matter what happens!
